Question:

Answer:

What is organizational development?

The field and practice of Organizational Development (OD) is defined as experts in Change Management. While we engage in change management as a practice, I feel that it limits what we can do for businesses.  From a change management business perspective, we can help organizations design a change management process that eases team members through a significant change. This might be a departmental restructure, business merger, or the implementation of a new computer system.

From a personal perspective, change management is also a part of what we do to help build teams, resolve conflict, and leadership development. Each of these things requires a degree of personal change.

Question:

Answer:

Besides Change Management, what else do you do?

I like to think of the field of OD as an umbrella term that includes team building, conflict management, employee engagement, organizational learning (training and curricula development), leadership development, retreats and facilitation, pipeline or pathway programs, apprenticeship, succession planning,  competencies& vaalues, and executive coaching.

Question:

Answer:

Does Archetype Learning Solutions do anything specific?

Yes, in addition to all the OD activities above, we do have proprietary work, we specialize in helping you create a culture of commitment.  A culture of commitment provides a consistent experience ensures that team members perform to their fullest through a culture of commitment.  We introduce a common language through organizational learning, which helps to create a consistent employee experience.

We have a suite of materials that includes:

  • an ability to assess your organization in eight (8) key areas to identify what's working well and where you have opportunities,

  • Help structure your organization to reduce silos, re-work, frustration, duplication, and missed opportunities,

  • Socialize new team members with a suite of tools to set them up for success from day one.

  • The Everest Experience: a two- or three-day Executive Retreat.

Check out our library of white papers to learn more about these topics.

Question:

Answer:

Is OD consulting the same as business consulting?

Its actually quite a bit different.  OD is a field of practice whereas business consulting typically helps businesses structure their functional or operational units all with the intent of making money.

OD as a profession helps the business structure itself as a whole system, connecting all of those operational or functional areas together so the entire organization functions as one unit.  We see increased productivity, realize significant savings, and help retain your talent.

Both are important and work together so you have the best functioning organization.

Question:

Answer:

What size organization do you work with?

Typically, OD professionals work in larger organizations. Its our belief however that any organization, regardless of size can benefit from organizational development.  We love to work with start-ups to help them establish a great culture before a toxic one forms.   Once a business gets too big its difficult to turn that ship!

Question:

Answer:

Are there other services that can benefit from OD?

Archetype Learning Solutions has worked with several community based groups like Kiwanis and Altrusa to help identify and correct potential conflict situations, as well as establishing systems for their community based work.
